Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez strikes ‘pro-life’ GOP over Texas school shooting

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attacked “pro-life” Republicans who were reluctant to control guns after a Texas school shooting that killed 18 students and three adults.

A New York congressman tweeted that Republican politicians were more interested in overturning abortion rights than protecting American citizens from gun violence.

“It’s like being ‘living’ while supporting a law that allows children to be shot at school, by elders at the grocery store, by worshipers serving at the House of Faith, by abusers, survivors or anyone in crowded places. There is nothing. It is the idolatry of violence. And it has to be done,” he tweeted.

A teenage gunman armed with a pistol and rifle engaged in violence at Rob Elementary School 85 miles west of San Antonio on Tuesday.

Authorities said the suspect, Salvador Ramos, 18, also died after being shot and killed by police officers at the scene of the Uvalde attack.

Officials said the shooter entered Rob Elementary School in Uvalde, 85 miles west of San Antionio, in possession of a pistol and rifle before shooting.

Authorities did not disclose a motive for the shooting, but said the suspect acted alone.

It is the deadliest school shooting in Texas four years ago, when a gunman killed 10 people at Santa Fe High School in Houston.

It was the deadliest attack on an elementary school since the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 20 students and six teachers.
