The high school wrestling coach at Arlis’ alma mater announced the news on Twitter on Thursday, January 14th.
“It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of loss to announce the death of Clint Alice, a former mogul of the Batavia wrestling program and a graduate of 2005,” Bayer said. “Clint was the beloved son of coach Tom Arlis and his wife Jamie, the protective and loving older brother of his sister Taylor, his childhood idol and best friend of his younger brother coach Logan Arlis, Jamie.”
He added: “His legacy as an avid competitor, tireless worker, caring for the young Batavia wrestler, devoted friend and beloved son and brother will resonate before us far beyond his time. On behalf of all members of the Batavia Wrestling Family, I express my deepest condolences to the Arlis Family during this time. [of] Unimaginable sadness and sorrow. To the Arlis family, we loved Clint. We love you.”
Alice’s sister Taylor also confirmed the news on Facebook.
“It’s very sad to hear that on the morning of January 11th our family lost our best friend and older brother, Clint,” she wrote. “Please respect the privacy of our family as we work to address this great loss. Details of the service are as follows. Thank you.”
