Defending champions Zamalek have secured their place in the Basketball African League playoffs semi-finals as the three teams at the Nile Conference in Rwanda over the weekend have won their last eight matches.
Zamalek defeated the Guinea-dressed Seydou Legacy Athletique Club (SLAC) 66-49 in Kigali on Sunday, the Egyptian club now winning all 12 matches in their tournament history.
“We don’t underestimate anyone,” said Zamalek’s Filipino-American guard Mikhael McKinney.
“We came out to win every game, and that’s what we do in the next game and make it to the finals.”
Elsewhere, Cameroon’s military and police force (FAP) angered host country Rwanda Energy Group 66-63, and US Monastir and Petro de Luanda both distanced themselves from their relationship.
Tunisia’s US Monastir beat South Africa’s Cape Town Tigers 106-67 and Angola’s Petro beat AS Sale of Morocco 102-89.
Zamalek will face US Monastir. Won last year’s BAL final Petro took their first win in the semifinals on Wednesday after beating FAP.
Monastir was the only side in the Sahara Conference. played in March One month before the Nile meeting – to reach the last four.
