Bucks beat Celtics to lead 3-2 series in thrilling Game 5 finish

Defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks was on the brink of a 3-2 series deficit against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series.

Instead, the Bucks have a 3-2 series lead.

The Bucks were six points behind with 1:45 left in the fourth quarter, and Pat Connerton made two free throws to win 110-107 with 5.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Milwaukee took the lead 108-107 with 11.4 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, with Bobby Portis’ offensive rebound and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s missed free throw. It was Milwaukee’s first lead since the second quarter.

Bucks guard Jrue Holiday placed a defensive play of the match by blocking a shot from Marcus Smart with 6.6 seconds left and stealing Smart’s ball with one second left.

Game 6 is Friday on ESPN. The Bucks can wrap up the series and advance to the Conference Finals for a second straight season.
