Music Business Worldwide reported in an August 17 article that a ‘robot rapper’ named FN Meka has signed a contract with Capitol Records.

The media publication further noted that FN Meka also released a new single called Florida Water. The track includes rapper Gunna and game streamer Clix charged with RICO.

Meanwhile, Turbo produced this song. He has previously worked with major rappers such as Travis Scott, Young Thug and Lil Baby.

Not only that, in the song, Fnmeca said, ‘Oh, just put it on the tab/I can’t see the price, so I put it in my bag/When I rush, I always go abroad/Cheongsu VVS diamond burst down/make it pop.’

According to the creation, the vocals of the song appear to have been generated through artificial intelligence, but are performed by real humans.

Virtual record label Factory New created FN Meka and was the first to ‘sign’ the robot rapper.

The company’s co-founder, Anthony Martini, spoke about the process for MBW in 2021. Martini created the FN Meka with his partner Brandon Le.

Martini also said that this song was sung by a real person, but the rest were all created by AI.

‘Technically speaking, FN Mecca’s voice is human,’ he said. But everything about him, from his lyrics to the chords and tempo that underpins his music, is AI-powered.’

Martini said, “Now I do vocals with a human voice. But we’re working on a feature that allows computers to create and perform words on their own. You can even collaborate with other computers as “co-authors”.”

Ryan Ruden, executive director of the Capitol Music Group, recently commented on the partnership.
