There is one unwritten rule that you must follow when buying beer at a baseball game. If the ball falls into the cup, you must chew the leftovers before removing the ball.
In Monday’s game between the Cubs and the Reds, a lucky fan honored a longstanding tradition after Chicago’s Alfonso Rivas’ foul ball found his drink over three innings. He acknowledged the crowd and lifted the cup before lowering the rest of the drink with a ball cuddling to the floor.
The best part was that the fans easily received souvenirs because the ball fell perfectly into the cup. People around him put their heads on him before they even realized he was there.
Do not worry. Some say the balls add a bit of flavor to the beer.
