Salvador Rolando Ramos, 18, entered Rob Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas with a loaded gun on May 24, 2022. His grandmother came to school after being fatally wounded at her home. Who was Eva Mireles?
Eva Mireles w is recognized as one of Ramos’ victims, but the identities of many others are still unknown. According to the Independent, Eva Mireles has been a bilingual, fourth-grade special education teacher for 17 years in the Uvalde Unified Independent School District. Her aunt, Lydia Martinez Delgado, told reporters in an interview with The New York Times that her niece gave her life to protect her children.

According to Robb Elementary’s website, Eva Mireles was a mother who enjoyed hiking and jogging. She only recently learned to ride a bike. According to the Independent, her husband, an Uvalde Consolidated School District (UCISD) police officer, received high school shooting training two months before the incident.
Locals informed the news organization that Eva Mireles was a friendly and likable member of a small town about 80 miles south of San Antonio, Texas’s second largest city. One of Mireles’ neighbors expressed their condolences to Post in an interview. “She was the kindest person, and she would say hello to walks with her lovely dogs.”
