Israel’s Shin Bet Sheriff has arrested a Hamas terrorist organization made up of East Jerusalem Palestinians planning an attack on high-profile targets, including a hawkish member of Knesset Itamar Ben Gvir.
In addition to kidnapping Israeli soldiers and carrying out suicide bombings in Jerusalem, five men have been arrested on charges of planning a gunfight against Ben Gbir. Authorities also seized a drone that they plan to weaponize for a light rail attack in Jerusalem.
Authorities described Rashid Rashek, a cell leader from Jerusalem’s Old City, as a “prominent” Hamas agent charged with mobilizing Hamas supporters to riot on the Temple Mount during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Temple Mount and Jerusalem.”
Ben Gvir responded to Shin Bet’s announcement by accusing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, as well as Hamas’ conspiracy, as “left-wing”.

“The writing was on the wall. It turns out that leftist agitation against me and Bennett and Lapid’s comments about me did their part, and that a terrorist team was planning to harm me and my family.” Ben Gvir said.

Last month, Bennett banned Ben Gvir from marching at the old town’s flashpoint Damascus Gate.
