Juliana Pena defeated Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 to claim the bantamweight title in December last year.
But this time, Nunes, the 32-year-old athlete, was knocked down three times by Nunes after both fighters were scattered in a rematch in Texas.
In addition to her bruised defeat, Pena left a chap on her forehead after the jury voted unanimously in favor of Nunes.
The referee scored the match 50-45, 50-44 and 50-43 and awarded Nunes the bantamweight belt.
UFC President Dana White said in an interview: “Juliana has a big lump on her forehead. She’s going to see a plastic surgeon now. She’ll take some time to heal, then I don’t know.’
He also said, ‘She was pretty banging tonight. There were 5-6 knockdowns in the first two rounds. she was hurt She needs to rest, relax and spend time with her daughter. Then we will go from there.’
Nunes regained his bantamweight title by participating in a mixed martial arts clinic. She defeated Pena in a round 5 battle at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday.
“I thought it was completely dominant,” White said. There were five knockdowns in the first two rounds. There is a big difference between a submit attempt and a knockdown. It’s not even comparable.’
He continued, “Juliana is as strong as a nail and her will to win is unmatched. She wanted to win. I think it’s as dominant as Amanda. And she was dominant tonight. I didn’t think it was close in any way, in shape or form. It was a complete closure.’
