Kanye West, who was supposed to be the headliner for Rolling Loud, suddenly stepped down from the festival.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Why did Kanye West leave Miami’s Rolling Loud?
Rolling Loud started Twitter to announce that Kanye West has been removed from the music festival’s headline set.
They wrote, ‘Due to circumstances beyond our control, Ye will no longer be performing at Rolling Loud Miami 2022.’
Official accounts further announced that rapper Kid Cudi will be replacing the 45-year-old fashion mogul at an upcoming event.
Moreover, at this time, West’s departure for Yera is only 5 days before the music festival.
Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler issued a statement explaining why rapper Donda’s abrupt departure.
They said, ‘We were looking forward to Yee becoming the headliner for Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent several months with him and his team at the show. Unfortunately, Ye has decided not to perform anymore.’
The duo went on to say, ‘This is the first time a headliner has stepped down from our show and I don’t take it lightly, but wish him the best. We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi as headliner in Miami and we are excited to see what he has in store.’
Kanye West’s relationship with Kid Cudi
Fans were surprised when Rolling Loud announced Kid Cudi as Kanye West’s successor at a music festival.
Ye and Kid Cudi share an extensive history both in their professional and personal lives.
If you don’t know, the entrepreneur helped Cudi start his career as a producer when he signed him to his Good Music label in 2008.
Cudi also released his first three studio albums on Ye’s label before announcing his departure in 2013. Nevertheless, the 38-year-old musician continued to claim that he had a good relationship with Ye.
The duo also joined forces to release a self-titled collaboration album called Kids See Ghosts in 2018.
However, Cudi and Ye’s friendship received a rough patch earlier this year in April 2022.
It is known that West was not impressed with Cudi’s friendship with Pete Davidson, who had a relationship with Ye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
In the currently deleted tweet, the hip-hop artist said, ‘As you all know, [Kid] Cudi won’t appear in Donda 2. Because he is your friend.’
