Rowland noted that he would accept the win on Brown’s behalf as he was not present.
She said, ‘Now that Chris Brown isn’t here tonight, I’m accepting this award on his behalf.’
Fans continued to boo Brown, however, and Rowland stopped his speech midway through to remedy the situation.
She said, ‘Excuse me… please calm down.’
Nevertheless, she said, “I still want to say thank you to Chris for making great R&B music and for being such a great performer. I’ll take this award. Bring it. I love you. Congratulations. And all the nominees in this category. Congratulations to all of you.’
Chris Brown’s AMA appearance has been canceled.
Reportedly, Chris Brown was scheduled to perform at the American Music Awards this year. However, his performance was canceled at the last minute for unknown reasons.
Additionally, Brown was supposed to pay a special tribute to Michael Jackson at the event.
He took to Twitter to call the AMA for action.
The Under the Influence side pointed out, “Probably, we were going to perform, but it was canceled for unknown reasons.”
Aside from that, he shared a clip of what appears to be a rehearsal for an expected performance at the AMAs.
In the seven-minute clip, the 33-year-old can be seen practicing a choreography routine alongside several professional dancers. He initially dances on his latest single, ‘Under The Influence,’ but then suddenly changes to a medley of King Of Pop hits, including Thriller and Beat It.
