Kirk Herbstreit, ESPN college football analyst and new Amazon “Thursday Night Football” color commentator, is gearing up for his first season of calling the NFL game full-time, where he will join legendary live announcer Al Michaels.
Michaels has served as the lead commentator for “Sunday Night Football” on NBC for the past 16 years, developing a close relationship and strong chemistry with opponent Cris Collinsworth. He never worked with Herbstreit, a talented college football color commentator.
Chemistry is important at the presentation booth, and Herbstreit and Michaels are working hard to develop a good partnership before they start playing together this fall.
“Now I hang out with him two or three times.” Herb Street said “The Pat McAfee Show” on friday.

“I had a chance to get to know him. I am very interested in it. That way you can have really natural chemistry,” Herbstreit said.
Herbstreit has made several NFL game requests over the past few seasons for ESPN, but along with collegiate football broadcast partner Chris Fowler.
How Michaels and Herbstreit grow in their partnership will be critical to the success of Amazon’s first season of “Thursday Night Football”.
