Mads Mikkelsen recently suggested that Johnny Depp could return for the Fantastic Beasts series.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Johnny Depp returns with Fantastic Beasts series

Deadline interviewed Mads Mikkelsen to discuss the possibility of Johnny Depp returning for his role in the upcoming Fantastic Fauna movie.

‘Obviously, the course has changed,’ Mikkelsen said. He won the case (against Amber) and the court (case). So let’s see if he comes back. He probably.’

“I am a huge fan of Johnny. I think he is a great actor. He thinks he did a great job. That said, I can’t copy. Couldn’t copy him too much. That would be creative suicide. So we had to come up with something else that was mine and build a bridge between him and me.’

The 56-year-old actor kept saying, ‘It’s scary. His fans were very, very friendly, but they were also very stubborn. I didn’t interact with them much, but I could understand why they were offended.’

He added joy to how he wants to intersect with Depp in the future.

Mikkelsen’s response comes months after Depp won a defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard.

If you don’t know, Depp was kicked out of most of the Hollywood industry after Heard wrote an article denouncing domestic violence. As a result, he was fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

The 59-year-old star played the famous dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spin-off series.

More about the Fantastic Beasts franchise

Johnny Depp starred as Gellert Grindelwald in the first two films in the Fantastic Beasts series. They were Fantastic Beasts of 2016 and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts of 2018: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Depp was also replaced by Mads Mikkelsen after a widely publicized incident with Amber Heard.

Mikkelsen starred as Grindelwald in the third film titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore. The film hit the theater screens earlier this year.

However, Depp’s fans campaigned hard for Depp to return to his iconic role after winning a controversial trial.

The franchise also includes Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller and Katherine Waterson.

Meanwhile, two new films have been announced for the series, but the fourth part has yet to go into production.
