Man was shot dead in New York subway as shooter continued to flee

As the shooter continued to escape, a man was shot in the chest and killed on a New York City subway.

A 48-year-old male victim was reportedly attacked Sunday morning while riding the Q train north of Canal Street.

According to ABC7, he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he died.

The suspect said the following about sources of his “random” victim: New York Post.

The shooter fled the scene before police arrived and has not yet been arrested. According to the newspaper, the suspect was wearing a gray Aeropostale hoodie.

No one else was injured in the attack, police said.

The shooting came more than a month after a shooter killed 10 people on an R train in Brooklyn, which officials classified as a terrorist attack. All victims between the ages of 16 and 60 survived.

Frank James, 62, has pleaded not guilty to terrorism and other charges related to the attack.

Officials said the incident resulted in the suspension of N and Q trains temporarily rerouted to the R route.

The NYPD continues its investigation on Canal Street.

Mayor Eric Adams has pledged to tackle the city’s soaring crime rate from 2022 to April 24, with major crime rising 42.7% over the same period in 2021, according to NYPD data.
