Mayim Bialik is an American actress, game show host, and writer. She was a child star in the 1978 film The Miracle of Bernadette and several other films and TV series. From 1991 to 1995, she played the title character of the NBC series, Blossom. From 2010 to 2019, she starred as neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler in CBS’s Big Bang Theory, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series four times and won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress. Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, 2015 and 2017.

Barry Bialik: Mayim Bialik’s father dies at 68
Barry Bialik, father of actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, died Tuesday at the age of 68. The cause of death was not immediately known. Bialik has a wife, two sons and four grandchildren. Mime Bialik posted on her own Instagram, “Her dad was my sunshine. He turned on the lights in every room he entered,” she said. “He was so funny, so smart and kind. I will miss him every day of my life,” she concluded. “Have a good rest, Dad. i love you.”
Barry Bialik was born in 1952 and grew up in the Bronx, New York. He holds a BA in Accounting from Brooklyn College. He worked as an accountant for several years before becoming a full-time dad when Mayim was born. He later returned to work as a real estate developer. In addition to Mayim, Barry Bialik is survived by his sons, Asher and Jonah. His funeral will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Bialik attended Walter Reed Middle School and graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1987. With the intention of becoming a rabbi, she enrolled at UCLA, majoring in Neuroscience (focused on Hebrew Studies) and Judaism. While at UCLA, she participated in the musical Tzeitel on Violin on the Roof.
