Peter Drury’s commentary on Manchester City’s Premier League winners was pure poetry.

Manchester City defeated Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa 2-0 at home, after goals from Mattie Cash and Philippe Coutinho showed Liverpool favor.

Everything was going wrong for Pep Guardiola’s men, but the frustration turned into ecstasy in crazy five minutes as City scored three goals.

Ilkay Gundogan took a step back and Rodri equalized the situation and the substituted German came up with a winner in the 80th minute who made Etihad Stadium enthusiastic.

The 54-year-old has a special talent for recapitulating some of football’s most dramatic moments and has done it again with another spine-chilling monologue when Gundogan appears.

“GUNDOGAN! On the brink of despair… Joy! From calamity, cacophony of joy! The stuff of a great champion. That’s why the City is making a sensation.”

Forget William Shakespeare. Schools should start teaching kids about Peter Drury.

He is the most popular commentator and won the Football Advocates Association Commentator of the Year award for the second time last year.

“I am flattered and delighted about it. It is decided by the votes of the fans, so we are trying to show great respect.

“But as to whether it matters in my head or not, I don’t take it too seriously because there are some very good critics out there.

“If what I do resonates with people, that’s definitely a good thing. I’m not going to do that. I am very lucky to do something that allows me to express myself and enjoy football, who wouldn’t like it?”
