Rapper C Blu charged with shooting New York police

Authorities announced earlier this year that the charges against young rapper C Blu, who were accused of shooting a NYPD officer during a brawl in the Bronx, have been dropped.

The city’s Justice Department said in a statement Friday that it was “unable to prosecute” a shooting and assault case against 16-year-old Camrin Williams, who is suspected of being a gangbanger and rapper acting under the stage name C Blu.

What was rapper Sea Blue accused of?

Williams was charged with shooting in the leg of 27-year-old police officer Kaseem Pennant, who was on probation in a shooting in January.

In February, Bronx Supreme Court Justice Denis Boyle set Williams’s security deposit at $250,000, which he deposited in advances he allegedly earned after signing a recording contract with Interscope Records.

Williams paid bail for violating probation, and returned to juvenile court a week later.

Williams’ luck changed this week as his most recent case was dismissed.

According to the Department of Justice, “The city’s inability to prosecute does not mean that this person should not have been in possession of an illegal weapon. The weapon shot both him and a police officer.”

“According to the Family Court Act, the case has been closed and we can no longer talk about it,” he said.

Patrick J. Lynch, president of the NYPD Police Charitable Society, considered the decision to drop the charges against Williams “irrational”.

“Any New Yorker who wants to get rid of illegal guns on our streets should be outraged by this outrageous decision.” This is the second time this person has been charged with illegal firearm possession. If a criminal like that shoots a policeman and there is no punishment, we should be skeptical. Why did you send us to collect guns in the first place?

According to police, a pistol exploded during Williams’ fight with an officer after police responded to a noisy crowd at Lorillard Place on January 19, police said.

Authorities said he had previously been detained in the Bronx for possession of a Taurus pistol in May 2020, when he was only 14 years old.
