Red Hot Chili Peppers to Honor late Taylor Hawkins at the 2022 VMA


Red Hot Chili Peppers gave a big tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards held on Sunday night.

The victory was dedicated to the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

He mentioned ‘another musical icon, a global icon and his name is my brother Taylor Hawkins’.

The 60-year-old drummer went on to say, ‘I want to dedicate this to Taylor and his family. I love them and I miss him every day. Fly, Hawk. Fly, brother.’

Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia in March of this year. He died at the age of 50. Moreover, the Foo Fighters won the Global Icon Award last year.

Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage ahead of the awards ceremony and performed a hit. They recently sang ‘Black Summer’ along with the classic single ‘Can’t Stop’, which was part of their 2002 album By Way.

Immediately after starting the speech, the 59-year-old singer said, ‘I just wanted to say thank you to the cheeky mistress known as MTV for supporting us for over a thousand years.’

He continued, ‘But really, really, really, really, really, really, really grateful. Thanks to Flea, John and Chad Smith for giving my life purpose over the past 40 years. Without these boys, I would have been a wandering catastrophe in space. So I thank the boys for doing something to my life and my love.’

Meanwhile, Flea proudly shared her love for ‘Croaches, Dirt, Trees, All Humans’ and thanked her bandmates and family.
