Sally McNeil is an American former professional bodybuilder and convicted killer, mostly known as “Killer McNeil”. He made her headlines on Valentine’s Day 1995 after she claimed that she shot her husband, bodybuilder Ray McNeil, after a violent argument at her home where her husband tried to suffocate and beat her.

Sally Dempsey (later McNeil) was born on May 29, 1960 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and grew up in a violent family. When her mother was pregnant with Sally, her father kicked her belly.
After that, her mother remarried Richard Dale Dempsey, who abused her. As her abuse continued, it became routine for Sally. However, she turned to her sports activities and athletics during her college days to get away from her all and seek her support.
Sally was an outstanding athlete who competed in diving and cross-country running. Eventually, she enrolled at a university in Pennsylvania to fulfill her dream of becoming a wellness member teacher.

Sally was married to Anthony Lowden for four years and had a daughter, Shantina, when Ray McNeil died. Sally’s son John was nine at the time, but his father’s identity is unknown.

On March 19, 1996, Sally was convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting of her husband and fellow bodybuilder Ray McNeil on Valentine’s Day 1995. 1996 life imprisonment.
After numerous appeals on multiple grounds, including improper jury orders, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals initially overturned Sally’s conviction and granted a habeas corpus warrant.
The 9th Circuit’s decision was overturned, and the State of California appealed the case to the US Supreme Court and returned the case to that court for further proceedings.
The Ninth Circuit Court, guided by the information and direction of the SCOTUS decision, reconsidered the case and issued a judgment in 2005 in favor of the state and reinstating McNeil’s original conviction. McNeil was a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant at Camp Pendleton.
McNeil was imprisoned and sentenced to death at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, California. In May 2020, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation granted her parole. She claims that Ray was consistently violent with the anabolic steroids she bought with the money she earned in her wrestling career.
