Tokyo Revengers Season 2 New Trailer and Release Date Confirmed

Tokyo Revengers Season 2 has been confirmed for January 2023 in a new preview trailer for the “Christmas Showdown” storyline.

Aside from My Hero Academia and the mega franchise, which is the fifth anime season, Tokyo Revengers was arguably the most popular series on air slate for the spring and summer of 2021.

The time-travel animation may not have been ‘tough’ in the same way as many other shows, but the Toman Gang certainly knows how to fight.

The first season of Tokyo Revengers ended on September 18 last year, and the anime was revived just a few months later, in December.

A new teaser for the “Christmas Showdown” episode has now been released online, confirming the release date of the highly anticipated second season of Tokyo Revengers. Here’s everything you need to know.

Tokyo Revengers isn’t wasting time announcing a season 2 production.

The popular anime series Tokyo Revengers has been extended for a second season, which is good news for fans. The Christmas Conflict Arc was confirmed at the December 18th Jump Festa 2022 event when it was revealed that it was already in production.

Despite the joy of officially confirming a comeback, the announcement of season 2 of Tokyo Revengers did not surprise many fans due to the series’ worldwide success and the availability of source material for the original manga series.

Crunchyroll doesn’t disclose audience data for simulcast titles, but it’s easy to observe how popular Toman is worldwide. Tokyo Revengers Season 1 received nearly 507,000 ratings on MyAnimeList, resulting in an astonishing 8.12/10 rating.

AnimePlanet is rated 4.2/5 and IMDB is rated 8.1/10. Crunchyroll is rated 4.6/5 and AnimePlanet is rated 4.6/5.

Then there is the original material problem. Season 1 only covered chapter 8 73 of Ken Wakui’s original manga series, and episode 24 of season 1 covered only the first half of the original manga.

The good news for fans is that as of June 19th, 28 volumes and 258 copies were published in Japan. This means you should have enough source material for at least two anime seasons!

Prior to the official announcement, it was reported that season 2 of Tokyo Revengers was already in production. This is because Tatsuhisa Suzuki’s talent management business notified Yahoo News Japan that “production of the anime season 2 has already begun”.

Suzuki has now been replaced by Masaya Fukunishi due to ill health and allegations of an extramarital affair with a female colleague.

The release date for season 2 of Tokyo Revengers has been confirmed.

While all Tokyo Revengers fans have welcomed the news that the Christmas Clash episode has been adopted, a release date for season 2 has not been announced at the December Jump Festa event.

However, a new teaser trailer for the next two seasons has been released online, indicating that the popular animated series will return in January 2023.

Unfortunately, an exact date hasn’t been announced, but it’s safe to assume that the anime will return to its usual airing block in Japan.

Season 2 will be simulcast internationally on Crunchyroll starting in January 2023, with Episode 1 scheduled to air on Saturday, January 1 or Saturday, January 8.

The number of episodes for Tokyo Revengers season 2 has not been confirmed. Season 1 aired 24 episodes for two consecutive seasons (a 3-month programming block).

How to Read Original English Manga Series

If you can’t wait for season 2 of the Tokyo Revengers anime to come out, you can read the original and the ongoing manga series instead.

Japan has published 28 complete Dankobon volumes, but only 26 of them are currently available in English (the release date of the remaining volumes in English is undecided).

Comixology Unlimited, INKR, INKYPEN, Kindle Unlimited, and Mangamo are currently offering streaming access to Kodansha’s series.

Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, BookWalker, Google Play, Izneo, Kobo, MyAnimeList, and Nook also sell digital copies.

New mobile game launch this month

Surprisingly, the final statement of the Jump Festa 2022 event was that a Tokyo Revengers-themed mobile video game was in the works.

An official statement didn’t provide details about the game’s perspective plot, but it now turns out to be a match-3 rules puzzle game starring the ‘Chibi’ opponents of the main Toman gang.

A URL to the ‘Tokyo Revengers Game’ website was also provided. This website is currently only available on Google Play, iOS support coming soon.

According to reports, the game will be released on June 24th.
