Warner Bros. Why did Discovery cancel Batgirl, but not the Flash?


On August 2nd, there were many articles claiming that Warner Bros. Discovery had canceled the Batgirl movie. There are also rumors that the platform will be deprecated. For distribution of the $90 million known film (i.e. neither the HBO Max platform nor theatrical release).

The Ezra Miller Controversy?

After receiving official notice from Warner Bros. Discovery that the film was being discontinued, supporters were mobilized online to ask the studio to distribute the film. Several people asked. The reason DCEU’s movie The Flash, starring controversial actress Ezra Miller, is released. The film was not canceled after fierce internet debate over whether to release it.

Flash still not canceling?

Jimmy Folino (@MrNiceGuy513)’s tweet “WhoDey. BLM, StopAsianHate” raised the question of why The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, came out. It was not canceled despite the appearance of an actress of color Batgirl. It has raped two women, kidnapped another, and is still active, but the WB/DC tweets that it will not cancel the Flash, which is not attractive at all.

The hiring of project directors Adil El Arbi and Billall Fallah was announced in May of last year. At the time, it was scheduled to debut as DC’s first HBO Max original production. Leslie Grace returns as superheroes with Barbara Gordon in the film, and veteran Hollywood actor Michael Keaton returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman. An antagonist known as Firefly was also due to be played by Brendan Fraser.

Batgirl incurs additional marketing costs

While this was going on, media such as Variety reported that the studio’s new management believed that Batgirl’s merger with Discovery would incur additional marketing costs. The new administration was able to secure several projects for Ben Affleck to return to the Batman role. According to Aquaman star Jason Momoa, Affleck will return to the roles of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom before starring in the upcoming The Flash movie.
