We share Instagram DM templates that nano influencers use to get brand deals.

  • Influencer Jalyn Baiden often cold pitches to the company via Instagram direct message or email.
  • She has made nearly $20,000 this year and has signed contracts with companies like Lancome and GoPuff.
  • She shared how to write a simple DM that can lead to paid sponsorship deals.

Starting a paid brand deal as a new influencer isn’t easy, and some influencers have created presentations to use when contacting companies they want to work with, rather than waiting for brands to figure it out.

For example, nano-influencer Jalyn Baiden tells Insider that she often introduces her company via Instagram direct message or email.

After quitting digital marketing last year to focus on content creation, Biden started posting as a skincare influencer in mid-2020. She currently has 4,000 Instagram followers and 8,000 TikTok followers.

She has paid partnerships with brands like Lancome and GoPuff, and her creators business has already made $19,985 this year, according to documents she shared with Insider.

She earned money as an influencer through sponsorships, commissioned content for brand accounts, and affiliate marketing.

Here are two templates that Baiden uses to contact the brand.

Instagram DM Templates: hello! My name is Jalyn and I am a content creator based in Richmond, VA. I am very interested in working with my partner. [brand] I would like to send a collaboration proposal to the marketing team. Could you please provide your exact email contact? Thank you so much!

If you have your brand’s email address, she’ll send you a note introducing herself and explaining why she’s interested in working with the brand, including specific experiences with the product. She also asks about the brand’s marketing goals.

The key is not to show what a brand can do for you, but to show the value you can add to it,” she said. She added that it always includes a media kit.

A media kit that includes producer engagement rates and viewer demographics serves as a kind of resume.

In addition to contacting brands directly, she uses influencer networks Lumanu and AspireIQ to build paid partnerships.

“So far, I’ve been earning 40% of my old salary in the last four months,” Baiden said. “It’s crazy to say that out loud.”
