She later became a weather anchor and reporter for WHDH-TV. In 2006, Michaels left television to pursue her passion for environmental reporting and writing.

Michaels is the author of two books, “The Climate Challenge: 101 Solutions to Global Warming” (Rodale Books, 2007) and “Cool Kids: How to Help Your Child Survive the Environmental Crisis” (Beacon Press, 2009).

Michaels was born in Kolkata, India. She holds a BA in Meteorology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a MA in Technology from Harvard University. Michaels worked as a meteorologist for the Weather Channel and WHDH.

She previously worked for WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire. She joined WBZ-TV Weather Caster in September 2001 and she left in July 2009. After she left WBZ-TV, she found time alone to look after her children and write books.

In late 2010, in Josh Jersey’s 1991 book Extreme New England Weather, she told the story of a fatal microburst that occurred in Stratham, New Hampshire. On January 31, 2017, Michaels announced on her Twitter that she had joined the WGBH crew as a science reporter.

Mish Michaels died suddenly, leaving her husband and children behind. She was survived by her daughters, aunts, and many of her friends. She said her cause of death has yet to be revealed, but she has a spouse and children.
