In A Game of Thrones (1996), Daenerys is sold by brothers Viserys and Illyrio Mopatis to provide troops to the Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo. Her exiled Westerosi knight Jorah Mormont becomes her and her friend. Illyrio Mopatis presents 3 petrified dragon eggs at Daenerys’ wedding.

Daenerys hates Drogo, but eventually forms a love relationship. She came to worship him and became accustomed to Dothraki customs, finding her inner strength for the first time and resisting the Viserys’ attempts to intimidate her to force her Drogo.

The Viserys threaten her and Drogo kills him with molten gold pouring over his head. Now, with Viserys’ death, Daenerys learns that she is the heir to the Targaryen dynasty and is responsible for reclaiming the throne for her family.
