Wisdom: Cubs’ 3B home run for the fourth straight day

If things go well at bat, it feels like he can do something at every plate, and Wisdom has had a historic time at bat in the last few days. Taking four innings against Vladimir Gutierrez on Monday night, Wisdom became the Cubs player to hit a home run in four straight games from July 29 to August after Anthony Rizzo recorded it. 1st place in 2015.

The 393-foot blast drove three runs, extending Chicago’s lead to 4-0 with the Reds en route to a 7-4 victory in the opening game of a six-game road trip.

The long ball was Wisdom’s only hit of the night, but it was enough to give Cubs starting pitcher Drew Smyly enough insurance to handle the Reds’ lineup in the middle inning.

Wisdom’s hitting streak began on Friday afternoon as he took Umberto Castellanos’ pitch just over the ivy and placed him in center field. The following day, Wisdom made headlines after hitting a straight home run with his teammate Frank Schwindel, becoming the first pair of Cubs to do so since Ernie Banks and Jim Hickman in 1969.
