Zoë Kravitz explains her remarks on Will Smith’s Oscars slap
Zoë Kravitz recently discussed a post shared on Instagram with WSJ magazine, referring to Will Smith’s infamous cheek.
Speaking of the unknown, Smith was outraged by the beating of host Chris Rock during a live broadcast of the Academy Awards.
Smith said he reacted after Rock joked at the expense of his wife’s Jada Pinkett Smith bald head.
Nevertheless, the Batman actress told the publication that ‘it’s a scary time to have an opinion, to say the wrong thing or to create controversial art, statements, ideas, etc.’.
She continued, ‘Art is about conversation, so it’s mostly scary. I think this should always be the point. The Internet is the opposite of conversation. The Internet is where people take things out and accept nothing.’
Kravitz also reminded me, ‘I am an artist. Being an artist isn’t about everyone who loves you or who you think is sexy. It’s about expressing something that hopefully can spark a conversation, inspire people, or make them feel imitated.’
She continued, “I think I’m in a situation where I don’t want to express myself through captions or tweets right now. I want to express myself through art.’
